Wendy Sherman

Wendy Sherman is a veteran ambassador; she has garnered a lifetime of experience in global diplomacy in both the public and private sectors. Sherman has served in the State Department under the Obama and Clinton administrations. From 2011 to 2015, she served as the undersecretary of state; in this position, she played an integral role in the establishment of the Iran Nuclear Deal. From 1997 to 2001, Sherman was an ambassador and a counselor for the State Department; she also advised President Clinton on relations with North Korea and served as a close advisor to Secretary Madeleine Albright. In between her tenures in the State Department, she worked with the Albright Stonebridge Group, where she is currently a senior counselor. For her service as undersecretary, President Obama awarded Sherman a National Security Medal. She is also a senior fellow at the Belfer Center at the Harvard Kennedy School. Her recently published book Not for the Faint of Heart: Lessons in Courage, Power, and Persistence details the lessons she has learned in her career in diplomacy.
