Ramie Targoff

Ramie Targoff is a writer, researcher, and educator whose work focuses on the literature and culture of the Renaissance, with an emphasis on the relationship between literature and religion. She is the author of six books, including John Donne, Body and Soul (2008) and Posthumous Love: Eros and the Afterlife in Renaissance England (2014), which earned an honorable mention for the James Russell Lowell Prize. Her latest book is Renaissance Woman: The Life of Vittoria Colonna. She is currently a professor of English, the cochair of Italian Studies, and the Jehuda Reinharz Director of the Mandel Center for the Humanities at Brandeis University. She has been a Guggenheim Fellow, an American Academy in Rome Scholar in Residence, and a American Council of Learned Societies Fellow.
