Michael Pollan

Michael Pollan has made a career reporting on food and the environment. He is the author of Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation, The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals, and nearly a dozen other books about food, gardening, and psychology. The Omnivore’s Dilemma was named among the best books of 2006 by the Washington Post and the New York Times, was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, and won the James Beard Award for food writing. Pollan is also a journalist and professor of journalism. He is a contributor to the New York Times Magazine and has won a number of journalism awards, including another James Beard Award in 2003 and the Reuters-I.U.C.N. 2000 Global Award for Environmental Journalism. He is a Knight Professor of Science and Environmental Journalism at the University of California Berkeley. His latest book is How To Change Your Mind; What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us about Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression, and Transcendence, which Kirkus called “a trip well worth taking, eye-opening and even mind-blowing,” in a starred review.
