Meg Medina

Meg Medina is an award-winning author of work for young readers. She writes for young adult, middle grade, and young children. In 2016, her young adult novel, Burn Baby Burn, was longlisted for the National Book Award and shortlisted for the Kirkus Prize. The same year, her picture book, Mango, Abuela and Me, won the Pura Belpré honor medal. This is not her only Pura Belpré award; her young adult novel Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick Your Ass won the 2014 award. She is also the author of Tía Isa Wants a Car (winner of the 2012 Ezra Jack Keats New Writers medal), The Girl Who Could Silence the Wind (2012), and Milagros: Girl from Away (2008). In 2014, Medina was recognized as one of 10 Visionary Women in America by CNN and one of the Top Ten Latino Authors to Watch by Latino Stories. Southern Living Magazine named her and Gigi Amateau Southerners of the Year in 2017. Her latest book is Merci Suárez Changes Gears.
