Maris Wicks has found a way to combine two of her greatest passions: science and comics. She is the writer and illustrator of science comics; she has turned everything from the human body to coral reefs to urban ecology into incredible and colorful comics. She has written and/or illustrated the books Human Body Theater (2015), Coral Reefs (2016), and Primates (2013), written by Ottaviani. She has also had work published by First Second Books, New England Aquarium and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, as well as Spongebob Comics, Marvel Comics, and DC Comics. She and Rosemary Mosco also produce the weekly webcomic, Your Wild City. Before working in comics, Wicks was a program educator at the New England Aquarium and science outreach communicator for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
