She has been involved in online and digital video since the late aughts. In her late forties, Bateman began to radically change her career path, both by moving behind the camera to direct, write, and produce, and by attending UCLA. She graduated in 2016 with a degree in Computer Science and Digital Media Management. She wrote, directed, and produced two short films, Five Minutes (2017) and PUSH (2017), which she also starred in. She is in production as director for her first feature-length film, Violet.
