John Kaag
John Kaag is a writer and professor of philosophy at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Although he has written a number of books, he is best known for
American Philosophy: A Love Story (2016). The book was selected as a
New York Times Editor’s Choice and an NPR Best Book of the Year, and it received a starred review from
Kirkus. Kaag earned his PhD in philosophy from the University of Oregon in 2007 and focuses his research on philosophy of the mind, aesthetics, and American philosophy. He wrote
Drone Warfare: War and Conflict in the Modern World with Sarah Kreps and
Idealism, Pragmatism, and Feminism: The Philosophy of Ella Lyman Cabot (2011). His latest book is
