Debra Jo Immergut is an experienced writer, journalist, and educator whose debut novel is astonishing critics. Katherine Coldiron said her in her Los Angeles Review of Books review of Immergut’s The Captives that “not a word is out of place in The Captives. What a rare gift.” Immergut also published a collection of short stories in 1992, Private Property, and her stories have also been published in American Short Fiction, Narrative, and the Russian-language journal Foreign Literature. Her journalism has been published in the Boston Globe, New York Magazine, Wall Street Journal, and others. She is a MacDowell and Michener fellow and has an MFA from the Iowa Writers Workshop.
