Andrea Beaty is an author of STEM-focused books for children. After earning a degree in biology and computer science, Beaty began her career at a computer software company where she worked in technical writing and IT. She says that her technical writing transferred well to writing books for children because of the self-editing skills that both require. Her first book, When Giants Come to Play, was published in 2006. It was followed by Doctor Ted (2008); this book was the first in her series about Ted, a teddy bear who imagines himself in different professions. Some of her other books are Cicada Summer (2008), Attack of the Fluffy Bunnies (2010), Dorko the Magnificent (2013), Iggy Peck, Architect (2007), Rosie Revere, Engineer (2013), and the New York Times bestselling Ada Twist, Scientist (2016). Her latest book is Rosie Revere and the Raucous Riveters.
